Below is a description of the collection and an offer for copies by mail or by visit to the society.

This will provide a valuable service to genealogists as well as help to raise funds for the ACHS, 
a non-profit organization.   This document is copyrighted by the ACHS.  You may not copy this document in it's entirety with out written permission from the ACHS.

Index for the Obituary and Death Notice Collection at the Adair County Historical Society

The index for the collection, which may be viewed here: http://sites.google.com/site/glloydsite/Home/obits-anchor which includes all given names and surnames provided in the obituaries (including all prior surnames of the women).

For a few years in the 1980s,the collection contains only obituaries for those buried in Adair County. For other years the collection contains obituaries but not death notices. Many of the books contain all death notices that appeared in the paper, including persons who had resided in surrounding counties and/or  had former ties to Adair County.

Up to three obituaries/death notices appearing in this index may be obtained for a $10.00 minimum charge plus $3.00 each there after.

The request must include a self-addressed stamped envelope (legal sized) and should specify the volume and page number on which the requested obituary/death notice appears in the index.
This collection and index may be viewed at the society at the above address and copies may be made there for twenty-five cents each.

Regular visiting hours for the museum and library are 1 - 4 p.m. Wednesday,
