ACHS Obituary Index

Obituaries from the Kirksville Daily Express

The following link will take you to an index for obituaries and death notices from the Kirksville Daily Express on file at the Adair County Historical Society: http://sites.google.com/site/glloydsite/Home/obits-anchor Thank you to Claire Lloyd for taking your time to put this index together.

The 37,257-name index (Volumes 00-31), last updated 2/4/13, for the Obituary and Death Notice Collection at the Adair County Historical Society includes all given names and surnames provided in the obituaries (including all prior surnames of the women) for obituaries and death notices that appeared in the Kirksville Daily Express between March 1979 and 31 December 2006. For a few years in the 1980s, the collection contains only obituaries for those buried in Adair County. For other years the collection contains obituaries but not death notices. Many of the books contain all death notices that appeared in the paper, including persons who had resided in surrounding counties and/or had former ties to Adair County. Most of the persons indexed lived in Adair, Putnam, Schuyler, Sullivan, Knox or Macon counties, Missouri. This site also contains the Adair County gravestone inscriptions and an index to the Putnam County gravestone inscriptions, the Kent Funeral Home records plus other data of genealogical interest.
